The Glory of Friendship

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

Poetry is one of my loves in life, and through one of the groups I am in I met a lovely lady, whose poetry I am going to feature. I will add to the poetry pages as and when I receive new ones

The Prima Donna

With grace and sheer beauty such as to entrance
The Prima Ballerina portrays a story in a dance
With skill and regal bearing her satin ballet shoes
Style and step with music until the two are fused
Breath taking supple movements more than entertain
Spell binding interpretation, brilliance is her claim to fame
The Prima Donna of the ballet everyone comes to see
For just one little moment she could be you or me
And at the grand finale collecting her bouquet
The world is her oyster as roses at her feet they lay

Blue Blue Day

Let the only blue you see today be in a flower or a tree
Or better still in a blue blue sky or a beautiful blue blue sea
May all your days be happy ones, the minutes and the hours
Raindrops every now and then with rainbows between the showers
Remember the sky is always blue, only the clouds are grey
So lift your head above the clouds to a happy blue blue day
Change a grey cloud to a bluebell, a cornflower or blueberry pie
Let perception be your paint box, your brush your heart and eye

Dreams

Come to the land of milk and honey said the honey bee to me
Where verdant lawns and majestic mountains finally meet the sea
Sunlight glistens just like diamonds over the garden of the deep
And the waters beat a rhythm and have no time for sleep

Come see the coral garden where time itself stands still
Experience rainbows dwelling there in peace they browse at will
Listen to the haunting sounds of a whale call to its mate
See the shoal of herring swimming, briskly to their fate

Feel the beauty of the dolphins coat its grace and gentle power
Touch the rippling sand beneath your feet, uncover Neptune's tower
Marvel at the Anemones as gentle currents make them sway
And watch the seals and turtles as they swim towards the bay

Have time to dream of other things the honey bee said to me
For there's more in heaven and earth than this beauty that you see
Go scale the mystic mountains and swim in a coral sea
And then search the great blue yonder, this milk and honeys free

Eternal Rose

I could only bring you roses
And I give one without a thorn
A rose as colourful as the morning
Or as fragrant as any beautiful dawn

Its buds are curled so tightly
That no eye can perceive its heart
Till the petals begin unfurling
Its total beauty then to impart

Slowly petal by petal reveals
A sculpture not of this plain
For it basks then dies in splendour
Till it wakes to its summer again

FRIENDSHIP

Real friendship always blossoms
Through good times and the bad
True friends are always there for you
To cheer you when  you’re sad

A friend is one who listens
And a friend is glad to be
The one you choose to turn too
When a solution you can’t see

A friend always supports you
When  wrong they take you’re stand
A friend will never let you down
Will always lend a hand

Real friendship is forever
It’s not a one way street
Like gold a friend is valued
Friends are precious and complete

Only God Can Send An Angel

Only God can send an angel
Oft to those that are in fear
A symbol of his eternal love
To let you know he's near

For only God all seeing
Can see your heart felt need
For the guidance of his angel
Who walks where air you lead

So when you're feeling lonely
Or in such great despair
Although not always visible
You can be sure your angels there

To cherish and to comfort you
Through the good days and the bad
To raise you when you take a fall
And lift you when you're sad

For only God can send an angel
